Market: Sporting Lisbon win
Odds: 8/15 @
Smelling the chance to claim a domestic boost on Monday night, Sporting Lisbon will make the trip to a struggling Guimaraes.
Starting with the hosts, while Guimaraes might still find themselves leading the chase to claim another top-six finish this season, Moreno’s men are in the midst of what has quickly become a nightmare spell. Last seen getting hit with a 2-1 loss away at Famalicao on April 14th, the Whites have picked up just a single point from any of their last five straight Primeira Liga appearances. With their extended rut highlighted by a dreadful 5-1 drumming away at Benfica when heading into March’s international break, Guimaraes have also shown some rather glaring issues at the back. With just a single top-flight clean sheet to their name since back on February 19th, Monday’s hosts will be more than aware that they face a huge challenge when they make a return to the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques here.
As for the visitors, watching their Europa League adventure come to an end at the hands of Italian giants Juventus a few days ago, Sporting Lisbon are seeking some recent stability. However, while Ruben Amorim’s men might have picked up just a single victory from any of their last five appearances across all competitions, the Lions should be relishing a trip to Guimaraes on Monday night. Not suffering a single domestic defeat away from the Estadio Jose Alvalade since back on January 8th, the former Braga boss will also be excited by a rampant record against the top-six hopefuls. Claiming a thumping 3-0 victory when they welcomed Guimaraes to Lisbon for their reverse top-flight meeting on November 5th, Sporting have won each of their last five straight meetings against Monday’s hosts by an aggregate score of 12-1. Likewise, tasting just one defeat at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques since back in 2017, we are expecting an away win here.
Bet: Sporting Lisbon 8/15 to beat Guimaraes in Monday s Primeira Liga Showdown @
