Stoke City striker Peter Crouch looks set to be offered a new deal this week.
The giant striker is a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with a host of rival Premier League clubs, including West Brom, where former Stoke boss Tony Pulis has recently taken charge.
But Stoke manager Mark Hughes is determined to keep hold of Crouch, who has scored 36 goals since moving to the Britannia Stadium in August 2011.
And Hughes expects fresh terms to be tabled imminently to the former England international.
We have been in talks for a long time and we need to put something in front of him, Hughes told the Stoke Sentinel. That makes sense to him and to us, and I would anticipate that happening some time this week.
There is an obvious connection [the possible Pulis reunion] and so people will do their sums and make five.
We want to make Peter happy with a contract for the next two or three years, or however long he s here.
