data-mm-id=”_le1o0gmoq”>Football season is about to be canceled. At least in the most problematic sense. Red Staters woke up on Tuesday to learn that players for the Dallas Cowboys would be allowed to protest during the National Anthem. This news prompted Donald Trump's adult son to proclaim that "football is officially dead" and that he is gone. Presumably from watching the NFL forever.Football is officially dead — so much for “America’s sport.” Goodbye NFL… I’m gone. https://t.co/FSJeyvsql3— Eric Trump (@EricTrump) September 8, 2020Can't say we didn't see this coming. Certain people will not tolerate the NFL "disrespecting our Country & our Flag." If noted football fan Eric Trump is gone, what will the NFL do?Keep in mind that no NFL player has yet to kneel for the national anthem this season. It was just reported that players from one team were given the "green light" to do so in a game that is still days away. This was enough to "trigger" someone so badly that they would stop watching the most popular sport in America. And it somehow got worse. On Tuesday EA Sports announced that Colin Kaepernick – yes, that Colin Kaepernick – would be an available character in Madden '21. So now there must be a Madden boycott. Unfortunately, there was already a call to boycott Madden because of problems with the game that have nothing to do with unemployed quarterbacks. pic.twitter.com/R2agq5B64p— Madden NFL 21 (@EAMaddenNFL) September 8, 2020You would think the NFL's continued refusal to employ the guy who started kneeling for the anthem would cancel all this out, but who knows. We'll find out when ratings start rolling in over the next week. Because these two actions are certainly enough for some people to give up the NFL in all its forms. However, if players start kneeling this weekend and people keep watching, well what would that mean? This is, after all, why the NBA is famously struggling with viewership. If kneeling really does drive away viewers, soon enough NBA ratings will start to look pretty good.

data-mm-id=”_1lgaj3g6b”>The XFL kicked off today. It's been an interesting experience so far, and one of the cooler new aspects of the broadcast is sideline reporters conducting interviews with players as they walk off the field after something happens. As one might imagine, interviewing players while emotions are high can sometimes come with a cost. We got our first example during Saturday's inagural matchup between the D.C. Defenders and Seattle Dragons. Dianna Russini caught an XFL lineman coming off the field right after he had gotten flagged for a post-whistle skirmish, and he dropped the first F-bomb in XFL history. The ABC censor did not catch it in time. XFL Offensive Lineman gets interviews, immediately drops an f-bomb. pic.twitter.com/XjIVTr8lAl— Dov Kleiman (@NFL…
data-mm-id=”_i6q7v7fdu”>The last fleeting hope that Archie Miller's time at Indiana could lead to greatness vanished into thin air Wednesday night. Piscataway is a hell of a place to watch a basketball team hit rock bottom, but that's exactly what happened as Rutgers ran the hapless Hoosiers off the floor in a rout. Four years in, Miller's time in Bloomington has been one long missed opportunity and the school simply can't justify keeping him atop its cherished basketball program any longer. Indiana opened Wednesday night's contest in fine fashion, racing to a 23-8 lead at the RAC midway through the first half. The Hoosiers were quick, decisive, hit some big shots and their defensive rotations were on point. Then things went downhill faster than a Kendall Roy c…
data-mm-id=”_ax30rr3jm”>The Dallas Cowboys face the herculean challenge this offseason of finally signing Dak Prescott to a long-term contract extension and plugging the numerous holes on their roster. They must to do all that while only having $33 million in cap space to play with. Completing that task will take creativity, ingenuity, and some amazing scouting, but it would be made much easier if they traded Ezekiel Elliott. In fact, it's the Cowboys' best path toward becoming Super Bowl contenders again next year. With Elliott out this week because of a calf contusion, Tony Pollard got the start and showed he's ready to replace Elliott as the Cowboys lead back moving forward. Against the 49ers, Pollard ran for 69 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 63 ya…
data-mm-id=”_caeg6uvei”>On Monday, the NBA and NFL subreddits, two of the largest communities on Reddit, went private along with thousands of other subreddits in protest of a new Reddit policy. Going "private" on the website means nobody can see the subreddit, so it is impossible to browse, post, or comment. In 2020, the two subreddits shut down in a similar manner as part of another protest against Reddit. Here's what you see if you try to log onto reddit.com/r/nba. Reddit / Why did they do this? Reddit's new API policies. In layman's terms, Reddit recently announced some changes that would effectively eliminate third-party applications, forcing anybody who wants to use the site on mobile to download the official Reddit app. This is making people upset for two…
data-mm-id=”_yippum7ta”>Sean Payton rolled into Denver with lots of thoughts about the job previous coach Nathaniel Hackett did and how Russell Wilson should stop running for offense and promptly lost the first three games, including a 70-20 debacle in Miami last week that somehow could have been worse. The Broncos had a much easier task in Chicago this afternoon against the Bears, but wasted no time making Justin Fields look like the best quarterback in the world and digging a 28-7 deficit. Desperate times call for desperate measures and, noticing the temperature on the Lake Michigan shores was above 80 degrees, Payton decided to make a wardrobe alteration. Because whereas a normal person would simply roll up their sleeves to vent the forearms, a football coach tasks an equipment mana…

data-mm-id=”_y9xomjhvh”>Travis Kelce accosting Andy Reid on the Kansas City Chiefs' sideline in the middle of Super Bowl LVIII exists in a weird space where it feels like the incident itself was not given the proper attention when it happened but then everybody went overboard trying to compensate for that afterwards. Tony Romo brushed it off when we all saw it on live television and now it's been maybe the most-discussed topic in the aftermath of the Big Game. At the very least it's been talked about just as much as Patrick Mahomes' place in the GOAT rankings, which means the coverage has been quite comprehensive. On Wednesday a new episode of New Heights dropped and we got Kelce's side of the story. Speaking to his brother, Jason, Travis did not deign to expla…
